Women Entrepreneur Platform (WEP)
includes 27 women production groups working in food processing
The capacities of the 27 women production
groups were enhanced through insensitive training courses, and 4 production units
were fully equipped and supported by solar power systems
One of the main recommendations raised
by the targeted cooperatives, is the importance of having such a legal body to
provide legal protection and capacity building services to the cooperatives,
establishing small businesses and channeling donor funding.
The project has been launched by
establishing a steering committee that includes 8 members representing related
ministries, local and international NGOs, with the scope of supporting the
platform, including members of the 27 women production units/cooperatives
MOUs were prepared between the 27
cooperatives and Rowwad Al-Tatweer company that will provide them with capacity
building trainings to enhance their performance and production skills.
10 Fresh university graduates were selected to offer them practical
skills training on cooperative management, finance and marketing in order to
provide those services to the selected cooperatives to enhance their management
and marketing skills and performance..
We, at Cooperative Work Agency, are
focusing on raising awareness within Gaza Strip about the importance of cooperatives
and cooperative work in accelerating the Palestinian economic wheel, mainly in
Gaza Strip.
Moreover, we’re also supporting the
investment through establishment of new cooperatives and production units to
push the economic growth and to overcome Gaza’s current economic recession.
CWA’s contribution to the Palestinian
Entrepreneurs Platform that belongs to Rural Women’s Development Society
“RWDS”, is to support registering and licensing any new cooperative.
Also among our main contributions to
the WEB is to raise public and women entrepreneurs’ awareness about the
importance of cooperative work
and encourage the establishment of
cooperatives that aim to enhance the economic situation and recession in Gaza
We also support this platform in
figuring-out any situations and facing challenges that subject to be confronted
by the platform and Palestinian entrepreneurs, through providing ongoing
support along with required registrations for reaching those economical
achievements.
I am a
member at the Women Entrepreneurs Platform (WEP) established by RWDS with
financial support from AECID
We
would like to thank RWDS for their great efforts in supporting us. We were a
small production unit run by two women from home, and with the support we were
able to rent our own premises and expand our production unit to employ 17 women
as full time.
